18T Electric Truck Chassis Platform for Truck OEMs and Body Builders

A modular 18T electric truck chassis platform designed for commercial vehicle OEMs, bodybuilders, and assemblers. Configured with a chassis-mounted battery architecture, an integrated eAxle, and space-optimized auxiliary packaging, the platform serves as an application-ready baseline for diverse commercial superstructures.

Jenwyn Tech supplies the integrated chassis and powertrain system, supporting OEM partners with mechanical interface coordination, CAN communication alignment, and project-specific configuration. Every platform specification is evaluated against target body dimensions, payload requirements, duty cycles, and regional operational conditions.

  • Mature, Pre-Validated Platform

Built on an established powertrain and chassis architecture that has already completed system-level matching and durability validation. Utilizing an existing, proven system foundation minimizes cross-component incompatibility and early-stage debugging risks.

  • Shorter Vehicle Development Cycle

By starting with a verified driveline and chassis baseline rather than developing the entire system from scratch, your engineering team can cut months off the project schedule and focus resources directly on cab adaptation, body design, and local homologation.

  • Flexible Superstructure Configurations

The chassis packaging maintains unobstructed outer frame rails and a balanced axle-load distribution. This allows a single platform to accommodate a wide variety of 18-tonne applications, including urban freight boxes, refrigerated bodies, and municipal utility equipment, with optional high-voltage e-PTO provisions.

18T Electric Truck Chassis Platform Overview

The Jenwyn Tech 18T electric truck chassis platform integrates the structural chassis frame, high-voltage battery system, electric drive, and coordinated chassis control functions into an application-ready foundation for medium and heavy-duty truck development. The layout is optimized to accommodate varied superstructure configurations while supporting project-specific integration.

Clear Frame-Top Battery Packaging

The high-voltage battery packs and auxiliary distribution units are packaged beneath the frame rail height, leaving the upper chassis flange entirely unobstructed. This flat-top profile allows bodybuilders to install subframes, cargo boxes, and specialized equipment directly without component relocation or structural workarounds.

Modular Architecture for Multiple Applications

Designed around a standardized frame layout, the chassis supports multiple superstructure configurations. The architecture provides predictable weight distribution and structural mounting points, allowing the platform to be evaluated across urban freight, municipal utility, and refrigerated transport applications.

Integrated Electric Drive System

Propulsion is delivered via an integrated rear eAxle powered by a PMSM. Packaging the motor and reduction gear directly into the axle assembly eliminates intermediate propeller shafts, frees up central chassis space, and simplifies mechanical integration.

Project-Specific Software Adaptation

Chassis control software can be adjusted to match the target vehicle configuration, operating profile, and interface requirements. The adaptation scope and validation criteria are reviewed and aligned with the customer’s engineering team on a project basis.

Chassis Protection and Electrical Safety

The chassis integrates heavy-duty physical protection and electrical safety systems for harsh commercial environments.

Structural steel features E-coat and powder coating rated for over 720 hours of salt spray exposure, paired with underbody shielding to protect the battery system from debris and water ingress.

High-voltage safety is governed by sealed automotive connectors, insulation monitoring, HVIL, and emergency power-off functions, with integrated thermal derating and overload protection safeguarding the driveline.

Target Applications: 18T Electric Truck Chassis

Engineered around modular frame packaging and high-voltage auxiliary capability, the 18T electric truck chassis accommodates a broad spectrum of commercial superstructures. The platform supports both high-cube urban distribution and severe-duty municipal service cycles where specialized equipment or auxiliary power is required. Final application feasibility is evaluated against target payloads, operating profiles, auxiliary energy demand, and statutory axle-load limits.

Urban & Regional Distribution (Dry Freight & Curtainsiders)

Target Mission: Hub-to-store retail logistics, parcel freight, and multi-drop delivery on paved urban routes.

Engineering Considerations: Progressive axle-load shifting during multi-stop unloading, aerodynamic body mounting, and optimized regenerative braking for frequent stop-and-go driving.

Temperature-Controlled Logistics (Refrigerated Transport)

Target Mission: Perishable food, pharmaceutical, and cold-chain distribution requiring active temperature control.

Engineering Considerations: Continuous high-voltage auxiliary power supply for the cooling unit, insulated body tare weight verification against payload, and thermal management circuit integration.

Municipal Waste & Refuse Collection

Target Mission: Residential waste collection and rear-loader compaction, taking advantage of zero-emission, low-noise operation for morning and night shifts.

Engineering Considerations: High-power hydraulic e-PTO duty cycles for the rear compactor, thermal stability under severe low-speed creeping (under 15 km/h), and rear-axle load limits under overhang weight.

Street Sweeping & Road Washing

Target Mission: Urban street sweeping, vacuum suction, and high-pressure washing for municipal roads and industrial parks.

Engineering Considerations: Efficient thermal management during continuous low-speed creeping, continuous high-voltage power feeds for auxiliary suction blowers and high-pressure pumps, and clear outer frame rails to accommodate side-mounted tanks and brush assemblies.
